The layout of the house is a departure from the typical approach of maximizing built-up area and storey height in the area. Collaborating closely with the client, we determined their optimal space requirements. This allowed us to create a courtyard at the heart of the house, facilitating internal views and providing opportunities for improved natural ventilation and lighting. By positioning the courtyard at the centre of the house, the building naturally divides into front and rear blocks.

Based on our discussions with the client, we sensed their openness to something unique. As a result, we proposed a series of ramps to connect the two blocks. The spaces and rooms within this house essentially expand upon the concept of landings along the ramp, where life unfolds.

These ramps extend the journey through the house, with the internal spaces taking the spotlight. The exterior is primarily finished with cement render and paint, revealing just enough to maintain an air of mystery. The interiors compensate by exuding a ‘warmer’ and more inviting atmosphere. This warmth is not only reflected in the textures and finishes but also engages the other senses through the sounds and fragrances provided by water and landscaping.
